I listened to the recent Day Two Cloud Packet Pushers podcast. The team discussed AWS Outpost and EC2 At the Edge. It was interesting to find out about AWS products where they ship pre-built racks to local regions nearer to the customer. The racks have equipment used to run some of the regular AWS services and are fully managed by AWS. These local racks appear as usable in the AWS console.

Latency is a significant concern for some applications. Customers vying for low latency services can deploy AWS Outpost and EC2 at the Edge to significantly reduce latency.

As usual, interesting times ahead in technology.
